Sumotori Dreams brings all of the action of ancient Japanese sumo to your computer. Although the characters are robotic blocks, the actual physics of the bouts remains largely consistent with what you would expect of massive men trying to knock each other over. It takes five knockdowns to win a match, but make sure that you get after your opponent quickly so that you don’t end up falling down yourself. Just like real sumo wrestlers, the characters are powerful, but they will never be accused of being the world’s most dexterous athletes.
Although the game takes just 96kb, it offers several features that you would expect to require more space. Among them are good soundtracks for the lobby, realistic movement of each of the characters, and several different choices of lighting. If you happen to have a friend with you, you can play against each other using a single keyboard. Be sure to find the hidden game mode, which you can use by knocking down the main menu’s wall on the right side of your screen. Just be careful: though it may seem simple, this entertaining game is good for a laugh and can be highly addictive once you get started.
