A DXR file is an animation or movie file that has been created with Macromedia Director, a video and movie editing program. The DXR file is similar to the DIR file, but saved in a locked (non editable) format.
Macromedia Director is now Adobe Director after Macromedia was acquired by Adobe in December 2005.
